Hello, subscribers! A more informal post today.
I tested negative for Covid today, 12 days after originally testing positive. I was pretty sick for about 5 of those days, and for the rest I wasn’t feeling 100% and I slept 9+ hours a night.
I did receive the latest “bivalent” booster nine days ahead of testing positive, but incubation periods vary. A few extra days might have made a difference. That’s life I guess.
I know friends and family were worried about the possibility of Long Covid. I don’t have the greatest track record with respiratory illnesses (things like pneumonia & bronchitis) and I know once I got Covid, that thought was lurking for my wife, my brother, my parents, etc. It looks like I have come out of this relatively unscathed.
The only reason 40 More continued on its normal schedule (more or less) is that I had a lot planned out and was a ways into various things before I got sick. Still, while I did try not to push myself and I did prioritize rest over anything else, it took a bit of doggedness to make the interview with Carlos Eiene happen. Carlos made that a great experience and I’m excited to see what’s next for him.
I’ve taken the last couple of days to fully recharge and clear my head. A key for any project like 40 More is to adapt, reassess, and be able to course-correct. Toward that end, I’m going to scale things back so that I’m posting 4-5 times a week. I want to make things a little bit more deliberate and make sure I have ‘off’ days where writing is simply percolating in my mind or where I’m focusing on nuts and bolts, communication and planning, etc.
So, October should be a space for some minor adjustments and to feel out slightly different approaches. I would like to work toward doing interviews as often as once a week, so a lot of my effort will be going in that direction.
Feel free to reach out and let me know what you’ve enjoyed most so far, and what you would like to see next, whether that is discussion of particular games, franchises, genres, eras, music, topics, etc.
Take care of yourselves,
-J Ellis.
Glad to hear you've recovered with what appear to be no long term problems!
Thank you so much! I feel pretty good to be honest. Better than I thought I might. After testing negative I had a few days where I might get a scratchy dry-cough here and there, but that went away soon enough as well. Lucky.
